The Tubos Reunion Works Committee has continued its strike, waiting to meet with management this Wednesday
The workers of Tubos Reunidos have concentrated this Tuesday in front of their offices in Bilbao, one day after the company presented the voluntary competition of creditors, which has about 1,300 employees and accumulated debt of more than 260 million euros.
The majority ofthe Tubos Reunion Works Council has advocated maintaining the strike, pending a meeting with the management this Wednesday, and has announced that it will not attend the Workers' Assembly convened for May 7 as a "dangerous precedent."
Tubos Reunidos workers concentrated this Tuesday in front of their offices in Bilbao, the day after the company submitted a voluntary creditor competition.
The company has about 1,300 employeesand accumulated debt of more than EUR 260 million, of which EUR 150 million belongs to the SEPI.
"Tomorrow we will decide what steps we will take. What is clear is that a referendum will not disconvene the strike called by the majority of the works council, since only the convenors can do so," the unions warn.
The decision is motivated by "treasury tensions", which have increased by the "involuntary cessation of activity at the Amurrio (Álava) plant", whose workers are on indefinite strike.
Noting that the decision to declare a creditor competition reflects "the gravity of the situation", the Works Council stresses that the aim at the moment must be to ensure the continuity of the activity and to organize the financial situation.
"We hopeto have an opportunity for dialogue and negotiation in this new phase, "they said, accusing the leadership of having" almost nil "credibility.
As detailed, the committee and management will meet tomorrow from 10:30 in Amurrio and six hours later in Trapagaran to explain the "truth" about the creditor competition.
The Commission has been very critical of the management and institutions of the company because 'not enough has been done' and there has been a 'lack of transparency', although they also have 'responsibilities'.
"Especially after the millions of euros of public money that have ended up in Tubos Reunidos," they recall.
They insist that workers are not responsible for the situation and argue that "internal investors need to put money in."
