The Palestine Solidarity platform has called for mobilisation at the festivals in the Basque capitals
The platform has accused governments and the media of "hypocrisy" and called demonstrations in Vitoria-Gasteiz (6 August), Donostia-San Sebastián (10 August), Bilbao (15 August) and Pamplona (4 October).
The Solidarity with Palestine platform has called for demonstrations at the festivals in the Basque capitals to highlight the situation in Palestine and denounce the "hypocrisy of the Western institutions", which will take place in Vitoria-Gasteiz on Wednesday 6 August at 7.30 p.m. from Aldab, in San Sebastian on Sunday 10 August at 7.00 p.m. on the Boulevard, in Bilbao on Friday 15 August at 7.00 p.m. on the Elliptical Square and in Pamplona on Friday 4 October.
On Sunday, the organization denounced the escalation of genocide against the Palestinian people and criticized the "hypocrisy of Western governments and the media," which it accused of "showing humanitarian concern for image cleansing rather than for their real commitment to human rights."
"Suddenly, as if the situation in Gaza today had come by surprise, some Western actors have raised concerns about the genocide in Palestine for months," he lamented in a statement.
It has also accused the international media of having for years contributed to the "laundering of the crimes of the State of Israel" and questioned what it describes as "symbolic manoeuvres by some European governments." In this regard, the platform has called for the rejection of any form of neutrality and has called for "unequidistant support" for the Palestinian resistance and "delegitimization of the State of Israel."
Finally, Solidarity with Palestine has called for action and commitment on the part of the population, stressing that "solidarity cannot be subordinated to the institutional calendar or to the geopolitical interests of the Western powers".
