Torre Pacheco first, and now all eyes are on the Murciana town of Jumilla, a town of about 27,000 inhabitants where the City Council has banned any celebration related to Islam in sports areas, a motion proposed by Vox and supported by the PP.
Jumilla is therefore the first people to incite xenophobia from the institutions, by violating religious freedom.
The measure has aroused criticism among opposition parties because, as expected, religious activities in these areas will no longer be permitted, such as theRamadan edo Lamb Feast .
The coordinator of the Islamic Commission of the Region of Murcia, Walid Habbal, has described the City Council's decision as "a step backwards"and has considered it more"disrespectful"than a political attack.
The Spanish Government, against the measure
The Spanish Government has also expressed itself in the same vein and has stated that it will follow "very closely"the hate speech that this agreement will generate, and has announced that the Ministry of Social Inclusion will activate the Observatory against Racism and Xenophobia.
