Pedrosa: "The anti-segregation paper will meet next week to reflect on the future of education."
"By May we want to complete the process and lay the foundations. Education must always look to the future and make consensual decisions because we have very important demographic challenges and social changes in the Basque Country," said the Education Counsellor.
The Minister of Education of the Basque Government Begoña Pedrosa has stated on "Boulevard" of Radio Euskadi that the working group that will work on the pact against segregation in the Basque Country will meet for the first time next week to reflect on the future of education.
"By May we want to complete the process and lay the foundations. In education we must always look to the future and make agreed decisions, because we have a demographic challenge and very important social changes in the Basque Country, "he said.
As the road map agreed last year states, this pact will seek the well-being of students and the improvement of academic performance . In this regard, the counsellor has advanced that the results to be published in the autumn will be "better than last year's."
With regard to the new developments in the new school year, Pedrosa has indicated that newmeasures will be taken, steps will be taken to promote de-bureaucratization in schools and more resources will be put in place to strengthen the language.
"There are increasing needs in Special Education, so the system needs more resources to respond to this diversity and make each case more personalized, "he added.
He points out that although there are fewer and fewer students in the classrooms, many children are coming from other countries. "During the course of 2020-2021, 2500 students arrived, and by 2024-2025 almost 8000."
