The A-8 intersection radar in Saltacaballo is running
The radar will cover the stretch between Onton and Castro Urdiales, with a limit of 100 km/h, with fines of at least 100 euros.
This Saturday, September 6, the radar of the\u00A0 A-8 motorway was launched in Saltacaballo (Cantabria) almost a year after its installation, which will take a 6.5 km journey between the Onton Hill and the exit of Castro Urdiales-Samanoin the direction of Cantabria.
These cameras record the license plate at two points and calculate the average speed of that stretch. In the direction of Bizkaia, the control will begin at Samano and end at Onton, under the Easygas gas gas station.
The minimum fine will be EUR 100 for those who exceed the average speed of 100 kilometres per hour. However, the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) has announced that communications will initially be sent before sanctions and fines begin.
With this radar, the DGT has explained that it seeks to "reduce the high accident rate" at that point where it supports daily traffic of more than 60,000 vehicles . The measure has been accompanied by an adjustment tothe speed limit , i.e. from 80 km/h to 100 km/h.
