Emakunde has called for "strengthening progress" in Hondarribia and a show of "non-discrimination"
Emakunde's director and secretary general will be present on Monday to show their support for the Alarde.
Emakunde-Basque Women's Institute has called on Hondarribia (Gipuzkoa) to "consolidate progress towards equality" and "continue to take steps towards the celebration of the Alarde without exclusions".
Emakunde's director, Mira Elgarresta, and her secretary general, Noemí Ostolaza, will be in Hondarribia this Monday, September 8, at the Alarde celebrations to support the Jaizkibel company and to demand equal participation of women in it.
"We must consolidate every step towards equality and not forget that our ultimate goal is for women to enjoy the party on an equal footing with men, without any discrimination. It is time to consolidate what has been achieved without giving up further progress," says Elgarresta.
The director of Emakunde has highlighted the "efforts" made by the Hondarribia City Council, as well as the contribution of various local associations, "especially the new generation, to promote dialogue and ensure the equal participation of women".
He also praises and appreciates the trajectory of the Jaizkibel company, "which for decades has made and continues to make a great effort for equality."
According to Elgarresta, "the important thing is to ensure this process of change and social transformation in favour of equality and normalcy." On this path, Emakunde "will always be open to supporting and responding to proposals from the municipality."
