In this context, Euskadi is a reference in the field of psychiatric care in the Spanish State , with a ratioof 15 psychiatrists per 100,000 inhabitants, which reflects the effort made in recent years in the public network to provide adequate mental health care.
As agreed in the Basque Country Health Pact, the Department ofHealth is working on a new proposal to strengthen the mental health network to present it before the end of the year. To this end, a multidisciplinary working group consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, child psychiatrists, nurses and patients has been set up.
This group, in which state reference experts participate, analyses initiatives, shares experiences and aims to design tools and solutions to assist patients and their families in the process of mental health care and recovery.
