Thousands of people have gathered in front of the Andalusian Government to denounce failures in breast cancer screening
The Amama Sevilla Association has reported delays and deficiencies in the early detection programme and has called for more resources for public health.
More than8,500 people demonstrated this Sunday in front of the Palace of San Telmo in Seville, the headquarters of the government of Andalusia Gbernua. Under theslogan "Our life cannot wait ", protesters have denouncedthe failures in the screening of breast cancer and the lack of information shared with patients.
Angela Claverol, president of the association Amama Sevilla , denounces the management of the Andalusian Health Service and considers it "unacceptable" that women like Anabel, one of those affected, have to wait more than a year to receive the right diagnosis.
Breast cancer associations have also denounced the "dirty war"against them and the fact that patients have sought to confront doctors. Despite cuts and lack of resources, Claverol has stressed that they have been working for 30 years to "help affected women and raise funds for research."
The demonstrations coincide with the Junta de Andalucía's announcement of a crash plan to improve breast cancer screening, but the associations stress that the resources and care for patients are insufficient.
On the other hand, theHealth Advisor, Antonio Sanz , has reported that the damaged tests have already been updated, and that efforts are being made to incorporate artificial intelligence into screening.
