They denounce "energy speculation" behind the Oteiza substation
The popular platform Tierra Estella No se Vende has ensured that the infrastructure "does not meet the energy needs of the region" and has called for justification of the reasons for the jump from 66 kV to 220 kV.
The citizen platform "Tierra Estella No Se Vende" denounced on Monday that behind the 220 kV substation projected in Oteizathere is a "speculative process" , an infrastructure that, in its view, does not respond to "the energy needs of the region" and is promoting the implementation of large renewable projects.
At a press conference, the group recalled that the facility has been under discussion for two decades and denounced the lack of "technical justification" to ensure the jump from the 66 kV lines provided for in the 2007 reports to a very high voltage substation.
The platform has cited as an example the photovoltaic project Oteiza-Villatuerta, as well as that of Lerín, which, according to the collective, "would use the substation as an evacuation point", denouncing the existence of over-sized parks with a serious environmental and territorial impact.
The group has also criticized the "lack of transparency" of the institutions and regretted the "silence" of the Navarre Government, the LASEME business association and the municipalities concerned.
The platform assures that it has filed numerous individual allegations against the Oteiza-Villatuerta project as a sign of the social rejection in the area.
Its demands include the immediate paralysis of processing, the publication of technical studies and the adoption of a 'distributed, low-impact and rural' energy model, because Estella is not a 'space subject to external energy planning'.
