Four restaurants in the Basque Country get their first Michelin star
Peace (Mungia), Islares (Bilbao), La Revelía (Amorebieta-Etxano) and Itzuli (San Sebastián) are the restaurants that have debuted on the famous list. Peace has also earned the mention of the Green Star, which presses establishments committed to sustainable gastronomy.
The Michelin Guide presented its coveted stars this Tuesday in recognition of the good doing and innovation of the restaurants. At a gala held at the Sohrlin centre in Malaga, the Michelin Guide in Spain 2026 awarded 25 restaurants with a star, including four Basque restaurants: La Pazde Alatz Balboa (Mungia), Islares de Julen Bergantiño (Bilbao), La Revelía de Fernando González (Zornotza).
The Basque Country, in addition to these four establishments, has managed to maintain the remaining prizes obtained last year, so it continues to enjoy four tristar (Arzak, Akelarre, Azurmendi and Martín Berasategi), two two-star restaurants (Amelia and Mugaritz) and one of 20 establishments in the territory.
And, as every year, the Green Stars have also been present at the gala to praise establishments committed to sustainable gastronomy, nature and the future of the planet, to which must be added four other Basque restaurants: Bakea (Mungia), Garena (Dima), Ama (Tolosa) and Hika (Villabona).
