Verter Recycling has not taken any action to prevent further accidents at the Zaldibar dump

Just six years after the collapse of the Zaldibar landfill, the Basque Government's environmental technicians have issued a report stating thatinfrastructure managers, Verter Recycling , have not taken any action to prevent any further accidents.
At the request of EH Bildu, the technicians have inspected the infrastructure and, at the end of September last year, received 29 infringements , including the fact that the leachate drainage system has not been properly updated and that, as a result, polluting waters are leaking to the ground and there is a risk of flooding and landslides due to accumulated waste.
According to measurements by the Gipuzkoa Waters Agency, within a year, this infrastructure has exceeded the safe level of ammonia by 10 times , and experts warn that the Zaldibar landfill has no environmental liability insurance .
