Thewell-known cook Rene Redzepi , founder of the prestigious Copenhagen restaurant Noma , announced on Thursday that he will abandon all related tasks after acknowledging that he mistreated his employees in the past .
The New York Times reported on March 7 that dozens of former employees claimed that Redzepi had caused them physical and psychological damage , detailing the events between 2009 and 2017 .
In a message posted on social media, Redzepi has stated that he assumesresponsibility for : "After more than two decades of building and running this restaurant, I have decided to retire so that our extraordinary leaders can redirect the restaurant to the next chapter."
Noma has confirmed in a statement that Redzepi "will immediately withdraw from his daily duties."
"Although I don't accept all the details of those stories, my past behavior is enough tounderstand that the actions of H were harmful to those who worked with me, "Redzepi added.
Driven by Redzepi's avant-garde vision, Noma has repeatedly led the world'stop restaurant rankings and won three prestigious Michelin stars.
"I admit the changes don't fix the past, "added Redzepi, who founded the Noma restaurant in 2003." They'll see me from here, but not the way they've seen me in the last 23 years, "he said.
