A woman has been arrested in Bilbao for setting fire to a canvas with her partner inside
Several witnesses have seen what happened. The detainee threw something into the canvas in the Atxuri neighborhood and then started a fire. The woman's partner was inside and was taken to Basurto Hospital.
Bilbao City Police have arrested a woman for attempted murder who allegedly set fire to a canvas in the Atxuri neighborhood while her partner was inside.
According to reports from the Department of Safety and Security, around 10.15 p.m. on Wednesday, the Emergency Services received a warning of a fire on a canvas in the Atxuri district of Bilbao and of the presence of a person inside.
Patrols of the Bilbao Municipal Police, the Ertzaintza, the Fire Brigade and an ambulance went to the scene. After the fire was extinguished and the victim was unconscious was treated, the officers who came to the scene, through accounts of several witnesses, found that a woman had thrown something through a hole in the door, and then a flame broke out, causing a fire in the premises.
The woman, who had a small burn on the knuckles of one hand, was arrested in the vicinity by police officers as the alleged perpetrator of an attempted murder and taken to the police station in charge of the investigation.
The 48-year-old victim was taken to a hospital in Bilbao, where she is still awaiting evolution.
The alleged offender, aged 45, shall be brought before the court after the completion of the police proceedings.
