Four people treated for smoke inhalation from a fire at a landfill in Vitoria
Four people have been treated for smoke inhalation following a fire at the Gardelegi municipal landfill in Vitoria-Gasteiz on Wednesday.
The City Council of the Alavesa capital has reported that the fire has forced the Vitoria-Gasteiz Fire Brigade to request assistance from the Foral Autonomous Fire Agency of Álava for the extinction of the fire, which is expected to take "considerable time".
However, according to the sources consulted, there is no riskthat the fire, which began around 5 p.m., will spread to the forest area. The City of Vitoria-Gasteiz expects the arrival of two tankers of trucks in the near future to reinforce the operation.
SOS Deiak recommends avoiding outdoor activityin the mountains of Vitoria-Gasteiz during the fire due to the high smoke content, as well as avoiding movement along the A-2124 (Port of Vitoria-Gasteiz) as long as it is not necessary.
