Critical points to avoid on Basque roads this summer

Measures to ensure fluidity on the roads
In order to improve traffic management and reduce accidents during the summer months, the Basque Government will implement a special action plan with measures adapted to each of the main traffic flows.
As far as international traffic is concerned, special signage will be provided by means of yellow background signs to facilitate routes to Portugal and Algeciras between the AP-1 and the N-622, as well as between the latter and the A-1.
A temporary alternative route to the N-1 at the Armiñon link will also be recommended in the event of retention of more than 6 kilometres in the A-1 southbound. In the return operation at the end of August, cone traffic will be diverted to leave one of the A-1 lanes for vehicles from the AP-1.
As far as internal traffic is concerned, the crane service between Bizkaia and Cantabria will be activated for the sixth consecutive year, on weekends and holidays with a large influx of vehicles (such as San Ignacio Day or Aste Nagusia de Bilbao). This resource will be located on the A-8 motorway and will aim to remove damaged or damaged vehicles as soon as possible.
"Victim to Vision Zero"
