EITB, nominated at the prestigious Prix Europa Awards for its multi-platform project around the entire solar eclipse
EITB's' Total Solar Eclipse 'initiative will compete in the Digital Media category, one of the most prestigious audiovisual awards in Europe.

EITB Prix has been nominated for the 2026 Europe Awards for its multi-platform project 'Total Solar Eclipse' and will compete in the Digital Media category.
The 'Total Solar Eclipse' project turned the August 12 eclipse into a majorpublic service initiative , bringing this astronomical phenomenon closer to the public by combining scientific dissemination, participation and new digital narratives .
Beyond the coverage of a one-off event, EITB developed a multi-platform strategy in the previous months, combining television, radio, social media, YouTube and digital platforms, adapting content to different audiences and formats.
The initiative has had the outreach content offered bythe'Eguraldia' team, such as pieces created with augmented reality and interviews with astronomers, astrophysicists and other experts , as well as content specific to children through Makusi.
Collective knowledge experience
The project has hada great impact echo in Euskal Telebista, promoting public participation in the platform ETB ON, ORAIN and social networks. In addition, EITBLab has been key to combining scientific dissemination and technological innovation .
With this designation, the Prix Europa Awards will recognize a proposal that combines public service journalism, scientific outreach, technological innovation and narratives adapted to different audiences . Through EITB's digital ecosystem, the project has transformed an astronomical phenomenon into an experience of collective knowledge and participation.
The 2026 edition of the Prix Europa , one of the major European festivals for television, radio and digital media, will be held in Berlin and the winners will be announced at the ceremonyof the October 16 awards ceremony.
