He reiterates his innocence, claims that the trial against him is "political" and claims that he did not conspire against democracy after defeating current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the 2022 elections.
Lula participated in a public event today, but avoided mentioning the new court decision against Bolsonaro.
In a radio and television message on Thursday, Lula described Trump's attitude to the judicial process as " unacceptable blackmail, threatening Brazilian institutions, and spreading false information about trade between the two countries. "
