Second busiest summer in history for the Guggenheim
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao received 488,971 visitors between June and August, 10,656 more than last summer, the second largest summer in the history of the museum, after 2023.
In June, 116,064 visitors attended the Museum's exhibitions, 163,426 in July and 209,481 in August, 14,527 more than last year.
81% of the public came from outside the Spanish state and most of the people came from the French state (15% of the total), Great Britain (10%), Germany (10%), Italy (9%), the Netherlands (8%) and the US (7%).
The busiest day was August 10th, with a total of 9,097 visitors.
The exhibits visited during the summer were: Ruth Asawa : Retrospective (until September 13); Jasper Johns: Night Driver, sponsored by the BBVA Foundation (until October 12); in situ: Igshaan Adams.

Specifically, the well-known artist died on August 14 in a hospital in Tokyo. In 2023, the Guggenheim hosted the exhibition "Yayoi Kusama: from 1945 to the present." Kusama began painting at the age of 10, using obsessive repetition of moons and patterns such as nets and arches.

In 1976, the famous 1st century marble sculpture was discovered in the vicinity of the parish church of Arkaia. The piece, 13 cm high, 9.5 cm wide and 6.5 cm deep, has been missing for 46 years, until it was returned by the PNV spokesman at the General Meetings of Álava, Jon Buesa, at the request of the judge. It can be seen until 30 September at the Bibat Museum of Archaeology.
