Bilbao's Museum of Fine Arts closes its doors from this Sunday until October 6
Upon completion of the expansion, the entrance to the museum will be free from 6 to 13 October.
At the end of the Big Week, the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts will temporarily close its doors this Sunday (August 30). The museum will take advantage of this closure to begin the final phase of the expansion works designed by Norman Foster and Luis Maria Uriarte, and to prepare the program that will be organized to celebrate the opening.
The museum announced last week in a statement that it will reopen its doors on October 6 and that the first week, October 6-13, will be free.
This temporary closure in September will be the only one in a process of radical transformation that has lasted more than four years, during which time works of art have been accompanied by an intense programme of exhibitions and activities.

In 1976, the famous 1st century marble sculpture was discovered in the vicinity of the parish church of Arkaia.
