Pablo Larrain, Mike Leigh and Yesim Ustaoglu compete for the San Sebastian Golden Shell
The new feature films of these filmmakers will compete for the Golden Shell of the San Sebastian Festival alongside the latest works by Nicole Garcia, Maha Harada, Hans Petter Moland and Benjamin Naishtat.
The San Sebastian Film Festival this Tuesday added seven new feature films to the Official Section, completing the list of nine previously announced titles. The new international bets that will compete for the Golden Shell are : 7:40 ce matin-là/Miloby Nicole Garcia, Muyou no Hito/In My Father's Roomby Maha Harada, Mis muertos tristes byPablo Larrain, Tender Loving Careby Mike Leigh, Markens GrødeMolanden by Hans Petter Grøde of Soil, Benjamin Gishen .
These works will compete with three other films already confirmed: Javier Ruiz Caldera's 5 minutes plus, Roberto Bueso's The Bad Father and Mikel Gurrea's Sants .
The Official Section will be completed with special screenings outside the competition: Koldo Almandoz's Last Farewell, Daniel Monzón's Ruega for us, David Pérez Sañudo's Sacamanteas and Fernando Trueba's Bajañí, as well as Carlos Torres's Beyond Society series, and the El castillo series, created and written by Isabel Peña and Eduardo Villanueva, directed by Elena Martín Gimeno and Sandra Romero.

The British Mike Leigh participated in the Official Section in 2024 with Hard Truths. This time, he returns to the competition with the feature film Tender Loving Care, starring Marion Bailey, Paul Jesson, Kate O'Fynn and Alice Bailey Johnson, in which the filmmaker makes a clear analysis of the contemporary world.

Norwegian directorHans Petter Moland competed withKjærlighetens kjøtere/Zero Kelvin 1995 in the Official Section. This time he will present the film Markens Grøde/Growth of the Soil, set in northern Norway, which revolves around the challenges of a couple's love.

The Argentinian Benjamin Naishtat, winner of several awards in San Sebastián in 2018 and 2023, will try to win the Golden Shell this time with Glaxo , a screenplay written from the novel of the same title by Hernán Ronsino, played by Lali Esposito, Marcelo Subiotto and Esteban Bigliardi, whose story is set in 1957 in a quiet Argentine village.
