Four months after Manu Lezertua's retirement, the parties continue to negotiate the appointment of his replacement in the Ararteko. Of all the candidates, the Bilbaine lawyer Mikel Mancisidor is currently the main candidate with the support of the PNV and the PSE-EE.
However, the Ararteko Act requires a three-fifths majority of the members of the Basque Parliament, that is, 45 of the 75 members, which is why the members of the Government (the PNV has 27 seats and the PSE-EE 12) need the support of a third group, EH Bildu (27) or the PP (7).
