Two journalists have claimed to have heard of Ayuso's partner's agreement before the attorney general

The SER journalist Miguel Ángel Campos and the former deputy director of the newspaperEl País José Manuel Romero have stated in the Supreme Court that they learned ofthe email of the defence of Alberto González Amador, partner of the President of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, before this information reached the Attorney General of the State, Alvaro García Ortiz.
In response toa question from the Public Prosecutor's Office, Campos has denied that his source was the Attorney General and has explained how he obtained the e-mail on the afternoon of March 13, 2024, in which González Amador acknowledged two tax offences in exchange for a prison evasion pact. The journalist has explained that El Mundolearned of the matter a few hours before the publication of information based on another e-mail, the news of which claimed that the Prosecutor had offered a pact to the Ayuso couple.
Campos confirms thathe came to see the contents of the message around 15:34 on March 13. According to investigations, Garcia Ortiz was unable to find out about the email chain until 21:59.
The journalist has stated that, although he telephoned the Attorney General that night, he did not speak to him. "He jumped the voice mailbox," he has confirmed, and has said that "he has never had a strong personal or professional relationship with Alvaro García Ortiz."
The former deputy director of the newspaperEl País, José Manuel Romero, has also testified as a witness and has stated that since 12 March the defence of González Amador was aware that he wanted to reach an agreement.
Romero has said that the Attorney General was not his source, adding that he was informed of everything by a "reliable source" of the Madrid Community Prosecutor's Office, which also gave him the name of his defense lawyer, Carlos Neira.
Three other journalists fromEl País have testified this Tuesday to confirm what Romero told them.
Thelast to testify was a journalist from ElPlural who clung to professional secrecy not to reveal who sent him the image of the February 2 mail he published on the morning of March 14.
