Demonstrations began on Sunday in Tehran and have spread over the last few days to dozens of cities, including Isfahan, Kerman, Kermanshah, Hamadan, and Qom. Iran is in a serious economic crisis with 42% annual inflation.

These calm waters are at the heart of the world's biggest geopolitical storm, transporting more than 20% of the world's oil produced from this strait between Iran and Oman for sale across the globe.

The Israeli Army recommends that citizens remain in "protected areas" until further notice of Iran's counter-attack. "Defense systems are working to stop the threat," it said in a message posted on social media.

He gave no details about the attack, but explosions were heard in the Qatari capital. 

The Al Udeid airbase was built in 1996 and is the headquarters of the United States Central Command. The largest American country base in the region, with about 10,000 troops.

Iran announced yesterday that it has all the options on the table and that it is considering the measure of response, while US President Donald Trump has expressed satisfaction with the consequences of the attack and has said that Iran needs "regime change." 

However, the Supreme Council of National Security and the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the Strait of Hormuz, at its narrowest point, is 54 kilometres.
