BetiON workers have called a 24-hour strike to denounce "arbitrary redundancies and lack of protection"
The Workers' Committee calls for the readmission of a worker made redundant and effective protocols for attacks.
The BetiON public service workers are going on a 24-hour strike on Monday, convened by the staff representation steering committee. The ESK, LAB, ELA and UGT unions have denounced "very serious incidents" that they believe endanger both labour rights and the quality of service.
The unions recall that since August 2023 the service has been run by the company Ilunion. They report that on 16 July a worker was dismissed on the grounds that he was going to perform his duties from Madrid, which they consider to be "arbitrary dismissal". They also point out that in recent months sanctions have been imposed on several workers, interpreted as a "campaign of intimidation" .
In addition, trade unions warn that there is no effective protocol in the face of attacks, since after a user was attacked by an employee, he received no psychological or legal assistance.
They have stated that the mute lasted four years to acknowledge the attack, which they consider "unacceptable" in a public service for vulnerable persons.
The Commission therefore calls for the immediate recruitment of the redundant worker, the adoption of alternative measures to the sanctions regime and the implementation of protection protocols, as well as the involvement of public institutions in ensuring decent working conditions in this essential service.
