Free Basque learning will be extended to level A2 in the next course
The Basque Government will extend the free learning of the Basque language to the A2 level during the next school year, so that the Executive of Vitoria-Gasteiz will continue the free policies implemented in previous courses, for which it will allocate EUR 4.86 million , EUR 52.9% more than last year.
At today's session, the Governing Council approved the call for grants tostudents studying Basque at basic levels A1-A2 and young people aged 16 to 18 who want to improve their communication skills at level C1, and at its subsequent meeting, the Vice-President and Counsellor for Culture and Language Policy, Ibone Bengoetxea, gave details of the matter.

According to the Vice-President, "Compared to last year, this year the number of A1 students has increased by 30%.
The free program will be offered at the following levels:
- A1 and A2: the course will be free and the student will pay only a small part of the tuition at the beginning of the course, with the possibility of recovering it when the level is checked.
- C1: free course to improve the communication skills of young people aged 16 to 18.

In his words, "HABE's accreditation processes will be adapted to the needs of emerging and emerging language profiles in the public sector."
