The Ertzaintza has investigated 11 other personsbetween the ages of 18 and 38 in connection with the incidents in Azpeitia in July, in which two Ertzainas were injured.
Furthermore, the investigation remains open and it is not ruled out that more people may be arrested or investigated for their alleged involvement in these public disturbances, as reported by the Basque Government's Department of Security in a statement.
The riots occurred in the early morning of July 20, when a Ertzaintza patrol identified a young man for painting on urban furniture and proposed that he be punished for dragging public goods.
Shortly thereafter, a large group of young men went to the Municipal Police Headquarters and attacked the officers. In response to these events, Ertzaintza patrols came to the assistance of the local police officers, who had to intervene to restore the situation, resulting in the injuryof two Ertzainas.
The Urola-Kosta Police Station initiated aninvestigation into these events and initially arrested a child under the age of 16 and investigated 10 other young people, all of whom are charged with a crime of public disorder and an attack on law enforcement officers.
The Ertzaintza has nowinvestigated 11 personsbetween the ages of 18 and 38, and it is not ruled out that more persons may be arrested or investigated in connection with such public disorder.
