The Ministry of Health and the Autonomous Communities agree on a joint protocol against respiratory viruses
The document defines four scenarios and proposes measures to be taken in each of them, which, according to the Ministry, will serve to "improve response" to influenza, covid and other infections.
The Public Health Commission, composed of representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Autonomous Communities, has adopteda framework document for the controlof respiratory infections , the common protocol of which will aim to coordinate the "improvement of response" to influenza, covid-19 and other infections.
The Minister of Health, Monica Garcia, has expressed her satisfaction with the agreement reached in a social media post. "Teleworking or wearing masks in health centers save lives," she said.
Based on the level of transmission of infections and the analysis of other indicators, fourrisk situations may be established:
- Interepidemic or basal situation.
- Low or medium level epidemic situation.
- High level epidemic situation.
- Epidemic situation at a very high level.
The agreed document also provides for the measures to be takenin each of them , including recommending the use of kisses in health centres or proposing teleworking in the event of a very high level epidemic.
They have also detailed the general recommendationsfor all scenarios : vaccination campaigns, maintenance of surveillance systems, training of health personnel... Measures will also be promoted in society such as hand washing, the use of masks by people with symptoms, the ventilation of spaces, etc.
The text specifies that the Autonomous Communities shall define the scope of application and risk situationsaccording to the epidemiological situation, but also stresses theimportance of the coordination of the autonomous services and the Ministry.
