The Basque Government approves an investment of EUR 817 million until 2030 to help families, children and adolescents
Among the measures included in the new Inter-Agency Plan for Support for Families, Children and Adolescents (2026-2030) is the assistance of EUR 200 per month to families until the child reaches the age of four. The new measure will be approved by the Government in the first quarter of this year and will take effect from 1 January 2026.
The Basque Government has approved a budget of EUR 871 million to support families, children and adolescents over the next five years. Among the measures included in the new Inter-Agency Plan for Support for Families, Children and Adolescents (2026-2030), which the Governing Council says today in green light, is the support of EUR 200 per month for families until the child reaches the ageof four.
The Minister for Welfare, Youth and Demographic Challenge, Nerea Melgosa, explained at the press conference following the Governing Council that in the first quarter of this year the Basque Government will approve an extension of the monthly aid of EUR 200 to 4 years and that the measure will be retroactive from 1 January 2026.
So far, families in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa have received 200 euros a month until their children are 3.
Since the adoption of the specific decree in December, the Government has received more than 2,000 applications for the certification of single-parent families .
On the other hand, the plan adopted today includes other measures such as strengthening the Council community, increasing the offer of haurreskolak or equalizingparental leave.
