The Basque Government and the Basque Public Agency will create a fund for the promotion of the Basque language in Iparralde of 2.47 million euros
Within the framework of the Framework Agreement for the period 2025-2029, the lines of cooperation for 2026 have been announced, which, in addition to the joint projects to be carried out, will allocate EUR 2.47 million to subsidise the work of private Basque cultural agents in Iparralde.
The Basque Government and the Public Agency for the Basque Language in Iparralde (EEP) have decided to set up a fund of 2.47 million euros for thepromotion of the Basque language in Iparralde, 540,000 euros more than in the previous year .
Aitor Aldasoro, Vice-Minister for Linguistic Policy of theBasque Government, and Maïder Behoteguy, President of the Iparralde Euskera Public Organization (EEP), have ratified the agreement at an event held in Baiona.

Aldasoro has stressed that "The leap of the Euskera must be made together, because the involvement of the entire community is essential and while the will to make that leap is essential, it is also necessary to have adequate resources."
Maïder Behoteguy, for his part, has stressed the importance of this cooperation. "This cross-border cooperation, which continues over time, allows the Basque Government and the EEP to share experiences, strengthen the complementarity of language policies and advance in a coordinated manner in favour of the Basque Country," he said.
This cooperation takes place in the following areas: the transmission of the Basque language, the presence and use of the language, the quality of the language, the motivation for the language and the building of bridges between the agents of the Basque language.
