The TSJPV confirms the conviction of an Irun teacher for sexual approach to minors
The jury has dismissed the teacher's appeal against the judgement of the Gipuzkoa Provincial High Court, which must serve four and a half years in prison and, once released, will be released from custody for another four years. The hearing is not final and can be appealed to the TSJ itself.
The High Court of Justice of the Basque Country (TSJPV) has upheld the sentence of four and a half years' imprisonment imposed by the Gipuzkoa High Court on the teacher of an Irun institute tried in March for a crime of sexual approach and conditional threats to children under 16 years of age via the Internet.
The Supreme Court of the Basque Country has rejected the teacher's appeal against the judgement of the Provincial High Court of Gipuzkoa, which also convicted him as the perpetrator of a minor offence of sexual harassment and imposed a permanent location of 20 days.
In addition, the decision states that he must serve four years of probation after the end of his prison sentence. The TSJPV reported on Wednesday in a statement that the decision is not final and can be appealed to the TSJC itself.
The First Section of the Gipuzkoa High Court has found it proven that the accused contacted three students from the school where he worked in the year 2023-2024 through a social network with the intention of approaching them with "expressions of sexual mockery"; it also states that he made "serious proposals" to two of them to join, but that these encounters were not carried out, not least because the management of the centre had heard of the case.
