The TSJPV has overturned the dismissal of 59 workers from the JM school in Bilbao

In a statement, the ELA union has stated that the Supreme Court's admission of the appeal against collective dismissal shows that the merger with the failed Jesuitinas school and the dismissal of the workers was a "dark and poorly managed" process that caused "the concern of the families and the diversion of enrolment of the students" until, in the end, "the final closure of the school"; "all with the approval and complicity of the Basque Government", according to the union.

The Constitutional Court shall rule on the linguistic profiles of public employment in the Basque Country

The High Court of Justice of the Basque Country has asked the Constitutional Court whether or not it is constitutional for all Basque public posts to have a linguistic profile in place. One of the three judges who were to decide has issued an individual opinion because, in his view, the law in question "does not cause any imbalance". The Basque Government sees no "legal reason" for asking the question.

The High Court of Justice of the Basque Country has annulled the language profiles imposed by the Administration on subcontracted companies

The High Court of Justice of the Basque Country has partially accepted an appeal filed by the CC.OO. and has annulled certain criteria approved by the Basque Government in 2023 concerning the use of language in the general administration and in the seconded entities. The Court argues that one co-official language cannot take precedence over the other and that the same linguistic profile cannot be required of subcontracted staff and officials.

The PSE-EE sees "normal" the Basque Court of Justice's consultation on language profiles

The PSE-EE parliamentarian Pau Blasi has stated that his party sees "normal" the consultation that the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country will hold with the Constitutional Court on the law regulating linguistic profiles in the public sector of the Basque Country. "This is not the first time it has happened and we are waiting for what the Constitution says," Blasi said in response to questions from journalists in the corridors of Parliament.

The High Court of Justice of the Basque Country has welcomed the annulment of a OPE of the Government of Gipuzkoa for requesting the Basque language

Thus, the Court confirms the judgement previously handed down by Administrative Court No. 1 of Donostia-San Sebastián, which emphasizes that the requirement of the Basque language in all jobs violates "the fundamental right of access to a public position on equal terms for almost half of the inhabitants of that province", adding that "when in relations with the administration only 20% to 25% of the population is in Basque".
