At least 49 Palestinians have been killed today in an attack by Zionist soldiers on a group of people waiting to receive aid in the Gaza Strip, plunged into a humanitarian crisis caused by the Israeli siege.
According to the Gaza authorities, some 200 people have also been injured after the Israeli army opened fire on the crowd, according to the newspaper Filastin.
Thus, since 27 May, 516 people have been killed and 3,799 injured as a result of "deliberate" fire by the Israeli army.
"Since October 2023, Israel, with the help of the United States, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including destruction, the murder of its citizens, hunger and displacement, as well as ignoring the calls of the international community and the orders of the International Court of Justice, "he said.
It also recalls that the Israeli humanitarian aid distribution plan "has no approval from the United Nations" and has resulted in numerous deaths.
Since 28 May, the Israeli Army has killed 410 Palestinians in the aid distribution areas organized by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) , while 93 others have died while trying to access the scarce aid distributed by the UN and other non-governmental organizations, the United Nations Office for Human Rights today reported.
At least 3,000 Palestinians have been injured in these shootings, and "hungry and desperate Gazatis must choose between starving or endangering their attempts to get food," Thameen Al-Kheetan , spokesman for the office, said at a press conference.
Israel "must stop shooting at people trying to get food and allow food and humanitarian aid to enter, in accordance with international law," he added.
Al-Khean added that the Strip is on the brink of famine as a result of the blockade imposed by Israel since the beginning of March and almost completely prevents the entry of food, except for those distributed by the aforementioned GHF Foundation, where the United Nations and other international organizations refuse to cooperate with the GHF.
"Israel's militarized aid distribution system does not meet international standards because it endangers civilians by contributing to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza," Al-Khean said.
Turning the distribution of food into a weapon can also be considered a war crime , added the spokesman, who urged Israel to stop obstructing the work of the UN and other humanitarian actors in Gaza.
