The 19th edition of the Bilbao International Festival of Letters, Gutun Zuria, will take place from 24 to 28 February and will bring together thirty names of contemporary literature, in response to this call, in Azkuna Zentroa.
The purpose of the literary festival is to "bridge between the writer and the reader," as explained by the organizers, "and to make common experiences of reading and literature, which are usually intimate experiences."
This year's edition will feature about thirty creators in the field of writing and publishing, professional discussions, talks...
Writers like Bernardo Atxaga, Jabier Muguruza and Karmele Jaio will talk about the future, speculation and divestments under the title "Biharko berbak" (24 February), the philosopher Didier Eribon and Alana S. Portero will talk about the false opposition between gender and class (28 February), Hedoi Etxarte, Lur Olaizola and Uxue Razkin's grief (27 February), Danele Sarriugarte and Layla Martinez will study a way to change the future.
The festival has also prepared the third edition of the professional days on the literary edition Gutun Zuria Bilbao PRO, which will bring together about 20 writers, publishers, translators, cultural programmers and industry agents on 25 and 26 February.
As previously announced, the BBK Gutun Zuria Bilbao Honor Award will be awarded to the Gerediaga Society and the writer and editor Valerie Miles.
