The lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, and the spokesman for EH Bildu in the Basque Parliament, Pello Otxandiano, have engaged in a fierce confrontation during the monitoring session held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, accusing each other of using the arguments of the extreme right in the debate on migration and security.
Pradales and Otxandiano accuse each other of "confusing" migration and security for political purposes . The Department of Safety and Security has decided to include in the information disseminated by the Ertzaintza the origin of the detainees.

The lehendakari has insisted that the Basque Government will not avoid "uncomfortable" debates and has argued that Basque society must have "objective and truthful information" to form its opinion. In this regard, it has argued that "populism and prejudice fight with more information and transparency" and has accused EH Bildu of "confusing" and polarizing political debate.
UPV's "drift"
At the same plenary session, and in response to a question from Vox, Pradales denied that after the election of Joxerramon Bengoetxea as rector there was a "drift" at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
