The PNV demands political responsibility from the mayor of Errenteria and leaves the Xenpelar case to the Ombudsman and the Public Prosecutor's Office
Jeltzale training has called for clarification as to whether all legal obligations for the protection of minors were fulfilled.
On Tuesday, the PNV formally asked the Public Prosecutor's Office in Gipuzkoa and the Ararteko to investigate incidents involving minors at the Xenpelar Bertso Eskola in Errenteria, considering the explanationsgiven by the mayor, Aizpea Otaegi (EH Bildu), "insufficient".
Otaegi appeared on Monday to report on municipal management on "cases of male violence" involving, on the one hand, a teacher at the local verse school and, on the other, a completely different subject, the dancer Jon Maya of the company Kukai Dantza, also based in Errenteria.
The mayor claimed that last Friday the City Council shared with the Public Prosecutor's Office the incidents affecting the Xenpelar Verse School and also held a meeting with the Ertzaintza on this matter.
However, the local PNV considers that both the municipal government (EH Bildu-Elkarrekin Podemos) and the mayor's response so far "is far from what the gravity of the known facts requires"and has therefore formally asked the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Ararteko to be involved in the matter.
Moreover, it considers it a "mistake" that the City Council "publicly mixed up in the same hearing cases relating to the Xenpelar Bertso Eskola and Kukai and Jon Maya" because "these situations are different, have different institutional implications and have different legal obligations ".
