Who is Mikel Hidalgo, PNV candidate for mayor of Bilbao?
Mikel Hidalgo the Bilbaine politician was born in 1993 and has developed his career between the private sector and the Basque Government. Since 2022, the Basque Government has been working on projects related to sustainable development and the 2030 United Nations Agenda.
Mikel Hidalgo (Bilbao, 1993) is one of the young profiles related to the momentum of the 2030 Agenda of the Basque Country. Graduated in Business Administration and Management from the University of Deusto, he has a Management Development Program and speaks Basque, Spanish and English.
He began his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he worked as a financial auditor, then jumped into the field of investment and business management as he joined Seed Capital as an investment and portfolio management analyst.
Since2022 he has worked in the Basque Government, first in the Lehendakaritza during the term of lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu and now Imanol under the direction of lehendakari Pradales.
Agenda 2030
His responsibilities include coordinating and implementingthe 2030 United Nations Agenda in the Basque Country , an area in which he participated in the process culminating in the opening of the 2030 Local Coalition Secretariat in Bilbao, the first United Nations office established in the Basque Country and responsible for coordinating the local implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the global level.
Hidalgo has also represented the Basque Country in various international forums related to sustainable development, including the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held in New York, where he defended the Basque model of sustainable development and policies for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, and has participated in international meetings in the United States, Egypt and Brazil linked to this global strategy.
