The Basque Government denies Solaria's 19 applications for permission to build photovoltaic parks in Álava

The Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability alleges that prior permits for access to and connection to the transport network have expired.

The Basque Government has denied applications for prior administrative authorization for 19 photovoltaic plant projects promoted by the solar generation company Solaria in Álava, motivated by the expiry of the access and connection permits to the A0S, previously granted by Red Eléctrica of Spain for these parks.

The rejected applications relate to 19 920 MW of power projects that Solaria planned to share the evacuation infrastructure with three other projects through a power line toa substation in Zierbena, Bizkaia, which had previously been cancelled.

The Basque Government has justified this decision in the "expiry of access and connection permits" to the transport network that Red Eléctrica de España S.A. once granted to all projects.

The decision issued this Friday states that the judicial proceedings and appeals initiated by Solaria do not prevent the expiry of access and connection permits, which is why the applications have been rejected. Furthermore, the Basque Government recalls that it was the company itself that requested the suspension of the procedures on two occasions inorder to consider the possibility of amending the rules, and therefore rules out that the delay is attributable to the Administration.

The company may lodge an appeal against the decision within one month.
