The Ministry of the Interior has ordered the closure of the maritime and air borders with Spain in connection with the migration crisis in Ceuta.
On Friday, the Italian authorities ordered the closure of the maritime and air border with Spain in the midst of the diplomatic conflict between the two countries over the migration crisis in Ceuta.
According to Italian media reports, the Ministry of the Interior has ordered the closure of the maritime and air borders. The decision was taken following a meeting of the Immigration and Border Security Review Committee, chaired by the Ministerof the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi.
Piantedosi spoke to the French Minister of the Interior, Laurent Núñez, before making the decision, and both agreed to strengthen controls at the land border between the two countries.
