Solar eclipses

The eclipse will look different depending on the location, complete in some places, partial in others, and the duration of the blackout will also vary depending on the location chosen. The best place to enjoy this astronomical event in the Basque Country will be Fitero in Navarre, which will last 86 seconds and where there is great expectation.

It's a revolutionary device for blind or visually impaired people to experience an astronomical phenomenon called LightSound, and it's a device that transforms the intensity of sunlight  into real-time sound.

The Foral Government has also set up an Emergency Advisory Council, which will put in place a security apparatus of 1,165 members.

We have a wide range of possibilities in the Basque Country: from the sea, from a vineyard or from our peaks, through a guided observation telescope, among others, we can see the eclipse of August 12th.

In the face of this phenomenon, which is expected to attract many people, the administrations have set up a comprehensive security apparatus to ensure safe and organised mobility.

The main recommendation is to avoid long journeys whenever possible. If the eclipse can be seen from the place of residence or from a nearby municipality with good visibility conditions, it is better to opt for the  to reduce excessive travel.

The LightSound device converts the intensity of light into sound, and will be available at some observation points for the August 12 astronomical phenomenon.

The moon will completely hide the Sun on August 12, 2026: it will be a phenomenon that will never be seen again in the Basque Country until the year 2183. The entire solar eclipse will begin at sunset, and the day will be "the day of two sunsets." The eclipse can be traced live through Orain.eus.

The chief physician has recommended that the eclipse be observed in the vicinity of the house, without moving too much. Thousands of glasses have been distributed to witness a phenomenon that he has described as a milestone. He has celebrated that the eclipse has served to bring science to the square.

The Department of Safety and Security initially provided for a total 24-hour ban by 12 August, but the new restriction will be limited to the afternoon slot.

The Counsellor for Science, Universities and Innovation, Juan Ignacio Pérez Iglesias, has been to the Boulevard de Radio Euskadi to talk, among other things, about the solar eclipse that will be seen in the Basque Country on August 12. The Councillor has recommended that people go on foot or by public transport to see the eclipse.

Astrophysicists at the European Space Agency have issued recommendations for a safe view of the entire solar eclipse of August 12. Un the use of approved prefixes (not umbrellas), removal only when the eclipse is complete, and placement of filters in case of mobile recording.

On the other hand, Hiru, the Autonomous Transport Union, has opposed the ban on movement.

Most animals on the planet behave according to sunlight, so that an eclipse affects them greatly, but not all in the same way. Some simply observe the eclipse, others adapt their activities to a lack of light.

The pearls of Baily, the diamond ring and the spectacular suncrown can be seen from 8:27 p.m. on August 12. The weather has shown us these phenomemoos in the third installment of reports on the important astronomical event. 

On August 12, the day we will be able to enjoy a complete solar eclipse, several balloon probes will be launched from the stratosphere to obtain images of the eclipse.
