UPV has refused to participate in research projects worth EUR 247 million because of their links with Israel
The rector of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Joxerramon Bengoetxea, has insisted on Wednesday that "the issue of the genocide of the Palestinian people is a priority in our university" and has implied that the UPV has in recent months renounced research projects worth 247 million euros in the field of biomedicine or computer science because of their connection with the State of Israel.
At his hearing, Bengoetxea urged the European Commission and the Spanish Government to exclude universities, research centres and institutions in Israel from European research cooperation funds, academic or cultural.
