The associations have argued that the implementation of the ordinary prison policy would allow the gradual progression of ETA prisoners and, consequently, their final exit from the closed regime, and have reiterated their commitment to peaceful coexistence.

The Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats has paid tribute to Councillor Miguel Ángel Blanco in Ermua on the 29th anniversary of his murder by ETA, with the presence of his sister Mari Mar Blanco, the president of the Basque people, Javier de Andrés, and the deputy secretary of Cuca Gamarra.

The Sare group has stated that the process of returning prisoners and refugees to the Basque Country is "on the last step of the ladder" and has called for the application of ordinary prison legislation to overcome it and for continued social mobilization, coinciding with the beginning of the sanfermines.

Pradales and Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska have taken advantage of the event to acknowledge the prison officials killed by ETA.

The spokesman for the Network for the Rights of Prisoners of ETA has defended the work being done by the Basque Prison Boards and has considered that, 15 years after the definitive cessation of violence by ETA, an era of confrontation should be closed in order to enter a phase of greater coexistence, always with "full respect" for the pain of the victims of violence.

The Donostiarra prison also experienced the period of greatest degradation and saturation of Basque prisons in the 1980s. It was designed to house 150 prisoners, but it received around 350 in the 1980s. Looking back, we can see the transformation of the prison system.

Sare has held a massive event in Arrasate today to take stock of his career since his founding and claim the need to "start ending a stage." "The end of the network, if things are done well, will be a collective and discreet victory," they said.

Three letters addressed to the victims have been made public, one from Iparragirre and two from Aspiazu.

As a result of Article 100.2, since last March, he has only been in prison to sleep during the week and weekends. This decision obliges him to stay in prison.

The Minister of the Interior of the Spanish Government, Fernando Grande Marlaska, has said that he found "disgusting" images of the child in the last Korrika, including a photograph of an ETA prisoner. He has explained that the security forces remain vigilant in the face of such events, but has added that, with the law in hand, these acts are not a crime.

The Security Adviser, Bingen Zupiria, has stressed  that the Basque Government "has complied with the law" since it assumed prison powers, eta, in any case, it is Justice that "will have the last word", as well as condemning the paintings that have appeared in recent days.

The complaint was filed by UPN on the grounds that the images of the race for the Basque Country passing through the Pamplonese neighbourhood of La Chantrea and other Navarre towns exalted terrorism and humiliated the victims. 

The spokesman for the Basque Government has explained that Iparragirre has received the same treatment as any other prisoner and that no discretionary measures have been taken. He has pointed out that they understand the pain it may have caused to the victims of ETA. However, he has recalled that this measure is aimed at reintegration. Marisol Iparragirre has left the prison in Martutene on a semi-liberty basis this Tuesday.

The group of victims of terrorism has warned that the terrorist organization remains "inseparable from the political and social fabric that supported and legitimized it".

Article 100.2 of the Prison Regulations has been applied to him, so that he may be released from Martutene prison on working days, even if he must return to sleep.  

The 23-year-old man, who had psychiatric problems and was in a solitary cell, committed suicide.

The leader of the Basque PP, Javier de Andrés, and the MP of Vox, Amaya Martínez, have accused lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, and the Justice Counsellor, María Jesús San José of favouring ETA prisoners.
