TOPO's three new underground stations in San Sebastian will be operational in the second half of 2026
The two access cannons to the Centro-La Concha station are "well advanced", according to the Basque Government. If the forecasts are met, the three new underground stations of the TOPO (Bentaberri, Centro-La Concha and Amara-Easo) will be operational in the second half of 2026.
TOPO's access to the centre of San Sebastián continues and Euskal Trenbide Sarea (ETS) is carrying out interior architecture works at the future Centro-La Concha station in the heart of San Sebastián, as reported on Monday by the Basque Government.
Once the concrete coating of the hole has been completed, construction of a section of platform and rail slab has begun, from which trains are expected to circulate from the second half of next year.
Susana García Chueca, Counsellor for Sustainable Mobility; Jon Insausti, Mayor of San Sebastián; Miguel Ángel Paez, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility; and Antonio López, Director General of ETS, have seen the works on the spot on Monday.
It has also been observed that the necessary brackets have been installed for the assembly of the railway line in the tunnel between the Central and Easo stations — the first section between Lugaritz and Miraconcha is already in place, with the exception of the last section for the connection of the Centre with the station — and that lobby work is scheduled to begin at the beginning of the year.
The two access cannons to Centro-La Concha Station are "well advanced." Xabier Zubirin will begin to assemble escalators by the beginning of the year. The access cannon to Loiola Street is equipped with escalators, and the glazed steel coating is at 66% of the execution phase.
With regard to the Lugaritz-Miraconcha section, the civil work has been completed and part of the facilities, such as elevators and escalators, are being set up. The railway line is also being set up, and lighting and fire protection systems are currently being carried out throughout the tunnel and at Bentaberri station.
On the other hand, in recent months there have also been "advances" on the surface, such as the streets Easo and San Bartolomé, and the square Xabier Zubiri after several urbanization works.
The entry into service of the three new stations that will be underground in the second half of 2026 (Bentaberri, Centro-La Concha and Amara-Easo) "will mean a revolution in the mobility of San Sebastián and Gipuzkoa, and the possibility of leaving free the land that will allow the creation of new public spaces and housing for the enjoyment of citizens, such as the esplanade of the railways."
