Hundreds of people gather in Bilbao for Palestine
The Bilbao-Palestine popular initiative has concentrated in the Circular Square to call for the release of Palestine and denounce Netanyahu for "crimes against humanity."
Hundreds of people have gathered this Saturday, August 9, in Bilbao's Circular Square called by the Bilbao-Palestine popular initiative. The rally is part of a global call for solidarity with Palestine in response to the current situation in the region.
The initiative thus joins the global call for the Global Movement to Gaza coalition, made up of activists from more than 40 countries.
Protesters have carried a banner with the slogan "Free Palestine!" and displayed a poster with the photo of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu under the slogan "Wanted: criminal genocide for crimes against humanity", denouncing his responsibility for the conflict.
The movement has raised four major demands: that governments and institutions act urgently to stop the genocide in Israel and the colonization of Palestine; that all land and sea crossings to the Gaza Strip be opened immediately and permanently; that UNRWA or other neutral international organization begin to distribute food and water within the Gaza Strip in a safe and dignified manner, without hindrance; and that the Global Sumud Flotilla, which sails to Gaza with humanitarian aid, ensure safe maritime passage.
In addition, the Gernika-Palestine platform has called for the continuation ofthese actions in various neighbourhoods and cities, "keeping alive solidarity and denunciation in the face of injustice".
