Unprecedented flood of fires: more than 344,000 hectares burned, thousands evacuated and four killed

The concernabout the fires in Galicia, Castile and Leonand Extremadura remains the same this Tuesday, so far 31,130 peoplehave been evicted  and international historical aidhas arrived .

Similarly, 31 people have been arrested and 92 investigatedso far now for their alleged involvement in the origin of the fires in the Iberian Peninsula, the most worrying being that of the municipality of Jarilla (Cáceres).

In Castile and Leon, 5,300 people have already been evicted from their homes because of the forest fires in 76 municipalities, and they are concerned about the refusal of many citizens to leave their villages because they fear that the flames will reach their homes.

In addition, nine forest fires remain active in Galicia, all in the province of Ourense, after burning 62,000 hectares of land. In Ourense itself, most of the fires originated, but others also affect the provinces of Zamora and Lugo. In the last few hours, four firefighters have been injured, one of them with severe burns.

In Extremadura, only the Jarilla (Cáceres) fire is currently active, which has already burned 15,464 hectares. More than 300 people and 20 air assets are fighting the fire. The Jerte Valley and the Ambroz Valley are the areas most affected by the fire, in difficult access to , very close to Salamanca.

Asturiasin has also improved with the start of rain in the Peaks of Europe and the drop in temperatures, coupled with the increase in humidity, although there is great concern that more fires may come from Leon.

Taking into account the affected area, 2025is already the most affected year of the last three decades . According to the first data, more than 344,000 hectares have been burned this year and the fire continues to advance.

In this context  from theAutonomous Community of the BasqueCountry  (CAPV) andfrom Navarra fire extinguishing specialists have moved to affected areas such as Riaño, Boca de Huergano, Guardo, Asturias and Astorga  to assist in the extinction of fires.

The fire has also leftfour dead\ u00A0, the last being a forest firefighter dumped by an embankment in a ppa car in the municipality of Espinoso de Compludo (León).

Hundreds of people have protested in Leon against management.

At thecry of "Fire destroys , Junta defeats", about a thousand people this Monday called for the resignations of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco (PP) Gaztela and the president of the Junta de León and Juan Carlos Suarez-Quiñones , Environmental Advisor of the Junta de Castilla y León.

They also request that the third emergency level becalled , since the management would be transferred from the Junta de Castilla y León to the Spanish Government, but the Executive of this Autonomous Community has rejected this request.
