More than 50 ACV firefighters have moved to Castilla y León to help control forest fires
In particular, the measure was taken after the Junta de Castilla y León requested assistance from the Basque Government Eusko Jaurlaritza, thus joining the helicopter recently sent to help put out the fires.
58 firefighters from the BasqueAutonomous Community(CAV) will travelto Castilla y León to assistin the control of forest fires and extinction , after the Junta de Castilla y León has requested assistance from the Basque Government, namely 42 firefighters from Bizkaia who serve the Member States, 10 from Gipuzkoa and 6 from Álava.
From Bizkaia, firefighting experts will travel in a dozen off-road vehicles tothe Riaño area in the northofthe province of León, within the Natural Park of the Peaks of Europe . Specifically, these professionals are part of the service of Montes and Basalan. They will also travel to the nearby municipality of Boca de Huergano .
For the control and suppression of fires, a variety of forest materialssuch as two pumps, two tanks, two SUVs, a command vehicle and a logistical van will be available.
They will also have a robot to clean chainsaws, torches or bushes, and the operation will be reinforced with a drone to provide air support for observation and action planning.
From Gipuzkoa, two intervention groups have been organized, which will carry out tactical, operational and strategic coordination work, which will remain for three days in the Boca area of Huergano, and which have departed for the area with six vehicles from the parks of Urola, Bidasoa and Oria.
Similarly, members of the ArabaEmergency Service have moved to the municipality Guardo with adapted fire fighting vehicles in forest areas, a pump car and several portable radios to assist in the control and suppression of fires that are still on fire.
The Basque Government and the Member States have recently sent a helicopter to assist in the extinction work.
