The Palestinian community has called a demonstration against genocide for Wednesday at the Festival
The Palestinian community of theBasque Country, meeting on the Palestinian-Euskal Herria Solidarity Commission, has called a demonstration in San Sebastianto denounce the Israeli occupation and the genocide against Palestine, taking advantage of thescreening of the film The Voice of Hind Rajab at the Festival.
The march will take place on Wednesday, September 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Okendo Square in the capital of Guipuzcoana, at which time the screening of the film directed by Kaouther Ben Hania at the Victoria Eugenia theatre next door will end.
The film tells the story of Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old Gazatite girl who was trapped in a car after an Israeli attack, who lost her entire family and killed even those who were going to be rescued by Israel.
The Commission denounces that "this is not an isolated story: it is a daily story in Palestine." "Families destroyed, children executed, households and cultural institutions have been turned into ruins," the representatives of the Palestinian community add.
In the face of the Israeli occupation of Palestine, which aims to "wipe Palestine off the map," the commission has called on the world of cinema and Basque society to march to denounce the murders of children, the genocide in Gaza and the "complicit silence" of much of the international community.
In addition to associations such as BDS and Gernika-Palestine, the Union of Basque Actors and associations of artists, film technicians and cultural creators have supported the call.
"May the streets of San Sebastian be filled with dignity, in memory of Hind, of his family, of the murdered children, filmmakers, health workers, journalists and many others, and of an entire people fighting for his freedom," they have demanded.
