A man died this morning ina stab attack in Bilbao. The Basque Government's Department of Security has reported that the Ertzaintza has opened an investigation to clarify what happened and to locate and arrest the perpetrator or perpetrators of the murder, for which it has established an unusual security device inthe Solokoetxe neighbourhood.
According to official sources, the warning of an altercation was received at quarter to seven in the morning on Fika Streetin Solokoetxe, resulting in a man being seriously injured.
The Ertzaintzapatrol has located a man with a knife wound at the heart, where he has been treated by the health services, who has been transferred to Cruces Hospital, but died shortly thereafter.
According to witnesses, the attack took place after a fight in which sticks and apparently bottles were also used. The Ertzaintza has contacted the area's neighbours and bartenders to gather information, and has searched various stages of the investigation.
On the one hand, the location of the victim at 33 Fika Street; on the other hand, a building on Zumarraga Street a few metres away, presumed to have been occupied by the attackers; and, on the other hand, the containers in the area, because a witness said he had seen one of the assailants throw something away.
The scientific police have taken evidence and are searching for the weapon used in the attack.
