Mission Artemis II: "We have reached the place where man has been farther from Earth"
The four astronauts entered lunar orbit today and will begin to observe the hidden side of the satellite.
NASA's Orion spacecraft this afternoon set a new record for reaching the maximum distance that anyone has ever captured from Earth, breaking the mark set by the Apollo 13 mission in 1970, when they reached a distance of 400,171 kilometers.
The Artemis II mission has managed to reach this point at 12:57 p.m. in the United States. When it was about to enter the orbit of the moon, the Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, who is part of the crew, sent a message to the checkpoint. "We have reached the farthest point from Earth," he said, recalling and thanking the work of those who have participated in previous missions.
