The US estimates that more than 150 million barrels of Venezuelan oil have been sold since the capture of Maduro

Chris Wrigt, head of the US Energy Area, has said that the fall in oil prices for this summer is "a very ambitious deadline," and expects "high" energy prices, even higher than they are now, while achieving "significant maritime traffic" in the strategic strait.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has assured Monday that since thecaptureof Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro  in a U.S. Army operation againstthe Caribbean country in early January, at least Venezuelan oil has been sold 150 million barrels of crude oil.

Wright said the current production in the Latin American country is over 1.2 million barrels of oil a day, that is, more than the "nearly one million barrels" that were produced daily before intervening on January 3.

He has stressed that one of the objectives of US President Donald Trump's government is to encourage US oil companies to return to Caracas and has indicated in this regard that there are five US oil companies in Venezuela, both offshore producers (companies exploring, developing and exploiting oil and gas at the bottom of the sea) and land-based companies.

The head of the Energy Area has said that the fall in oil prices for this summer is a "very ambitious period" and expects "high" energy prices, even higher than they are now, while achieving "significant maritime traffic" in the strategicstrait of Hormuz.

"When the conflict ends and energy starts to move again, we will begin to see a downward trend, but it will take time," the secretary said, adding that "the longer the conflict lasts, the longer it will take us to get things back on track."

It should be remembered that last January, Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez announced a long-term "productive collaboration"with the US, following Washington's lifting of sanctions to allow US companies to operate in the Venezuelan oil market, starting on January 7, as part of a process that allows the sale and transport of crude oil to the rest of the world.

As a result, the state-owned company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) has signed new supply contracts with companies that market oil and derivatives in the United States.

The White House tenant himself has described Rodriguez's work on the exploitation of oil resources as "really good" and stressed that "millions of barrels of oil are being extracted."
