Ceuta, waiting place: numerous families are searching for missing relatives and an area has been opened to identify the bodies

As the influx of people from the last few days decreases, the border with Ceuta is gradually returning to normal, and there is also the most dramatic aspect of the migration crisis: the tragedy of the dead.

The authorities have installed a tent in Ceuta to identify the bodies to be repatriated and increasing uncertainty fordozens of Moroccan families who have no news of their relatives.

With the death toll rising, reports of missing persons and requests for information have increased in the last few hours, while hundreds of people are waiting for a call or relatives still returning from the autonomous city.

According to police sources, relatives and friends of many missing persons have turned to the authorities , who have disseminated photos on social media and media to try to locate them, and the police have recommended that they file a formal complaint of disappearance so that they can compare data with the bodies recovered in recent days.

So far, the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue have found 67 bodies in the area of the border morgue. According to the Spanish authorities, most of the victims drowned while trying to swim to Ceuta at the massive entrance on Thursday.

The bodies are being transferred to the military hospital, where they are expected to join more medical litigation and identification experts to speed up autopsies and identify victims as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the border of Ceuta has become a waiting place for many families. Telephone calls, nervous conversations, and questions to young people who continue to return to Castillejos are constant; many mothers, fathers, and wives seek some trace of their relatives.

"I want nothing more than for my son to come back with me," cried a woman from a mountainous village in the province of Tetuango, whose 21-year-old son went to Castillejosee on Thursday to pass to Ceuta, and of whom they have not heard since.

The tragedy has also struck other families. A man at the border received a call confirming the discovery of his uncle's body; his uncle had tried to swim to Ceuta. A few yards away, another mother was still waiting for her 17-year-old son.

His son had promised to return by telephone on the same day, but the hours had passed but he did not appear.
